Stitched Screen Captures from The Hobbit (1977)
Is there a word for this? I took screen captures from Rankin Bass' The Hobbit and put them together (sans correction mostly) in Photoshop. This is a large image but it's worth it to see the careful work they put into backgrounds and dramatic scenery. Save the image to see it larger than your browser (5000x5000). There are also a couple of single screen captures just to fill out the page.
Imagine how gorgeous the original art must be.

War Elephants - Why Don't They Still Do This?
"Animal rights aside," why doesn't anyone still do this, somewhere in the world? I mean in situations where they don't expect tanks, planes, helicopters, or Rambo...there must surely be some form of human conflict wherein this spectacle would make some amount of sense. By appearances, it would break up an angry mob tout de suite.

If they could go around wearing mail, you know Kevlar would be no problem.

Ghostly Buccaneers
Here's the Ghostly Buccaneers paint by numbers kit from 1973 in PDF format. Download, print and paint. You might want to tweak the colors; it's hard to say what is what after 42 years, but 1 and 12 are very similar.
